• Wedding in San Galgano Abbey

    25 March 2020

Have you ever heard about the stunning roofless church in Tuscany? Yes, I’m talking about San Galgano Abbey, the evocative gothic church, now deconsecrated, where you can celebrate your civil or symbolic wedding near Siena. I could go on telling you the story of San Galgano Abbey but I love people more than the facts. As a Tuscan wedding planner, I would like to tell you about a romantic groom, Andrea, who asked for the hand of the beautiful Serena on a plane, in front of all the passengers. If you dream to get married in Tuscany with a celebration like no other, you can’t miss this fairy-tale wedding inspiration.

If you would like to talk about your tailor-made wedding in San Galgano Abbey, I’d be happy to hear from you https://www.solevents.it/en/contact/

THE CIVIL CEREMONY IN SAN GALGANO ABBEY

Getting married in San Galgano is a special life experience. It is an evocative venue that can host different styles of events, just think that classical musical concerts, musical or plays are planned here in the summer season… in this regard, I suggest to book your wedding date in San Galgano Abbey as soon as possible because it is not always available in summer.

Talking again about the weddings, you can set a very elegant and refined ceremony or you can go for a typical Tuscan country-chic mood, San Galgano Abbey would be stunning anyway. Serena and Andrea chose the second option and the main theme of their wedding was the sunflower. Are you curious about Flowers language? The sunflower is a symbol of love, devotion and admiration. As you probably know, the sunflowers are known because of the peculiarity of following the movement of the sun… it is an endless, unbreakable bond. All the wedding decorations In San Galgano were matched with the colors of the sunflowers: the ivory roses, the dark green columns at the entrance and next to the altar, the seasonal greenery of the bridal bouquet.

When everything was ready, the bride made her entrance on the tunes of the romantic violin.

As you can imagine, San Galgano Abbey is the perfect setting for the wedding photoshoot too. Because it is a very requested location and there are a lot of weddings in the same day, each couple receive a given time to celebrate the rite, take pictures and leave the venue. However planning everything with a good timeline will let you enjoy the moment of “I Do” and the rest of the shooting with your wedding photographer.

WEDDING RECEPTION NEAR SAN GALGANO ABBEY

The wedding reception and the wedding dinner were set in a country-chic agriturismo with the accomodations near San Galgano Abbey. The dinner was served in the courtyard with the romantic fairylights. The round tables recall the shape of the sunflowers and all the decorations were ivory, yellow and brown to match the main color palette.

After the wedding dinner, we enjoyed two funny moments. The first was the unmissable bouquet toss, do you know this tradition? All the unmarried women stand behind the bride who has to throw her bouquet without looking at them. The one who catch it, is the next to receive the marriage proposal. Good luck, girls! The second moment was a surprise for the guests. All the most beautiful pictures taken by the wedding photographer during the afternoon photoshoot were printed and set in a cozy corner of the garden. Each family was invited to take a photo as a souvenir of that special day. I personally consider it a very nice gesture, all the guests were so happy and appreciated this little gift very much!

THE WEDDING CAKE AND THE DANCING PARTY

A lovely and romantic couple like Serena and Andrea required the sweetest cutting of the cake of all time. We set the table in front of a special view: San Galgano Abbey. The table was decorated with lanterns, candles and a lot of sunflowers. The wedding cake was a Naked cake, the new trend of recent years, decorated with fresh fruits and small flowers. The couple made their entrance on the tunes of The Beauty and the Beast, the melody of the popular film. As soon as the newlyweds cut the wedding cake, the fireworks display began.

The fabulous wedding went on with the party, the dj made the guests dance for hours.

I’ll always remember Serena and Andrea because it isn’t easy to find two young people who believe in love and marriage deeply. Taking part in your wedding was my pleasure and honor, I wish you a long life full of all happiness that good people deserve.
